A few projects going up in Vancouver's westside seen from a friend's balcony.

Sen̓áḵw (Squamish Nation) | 11 Towers | 171m | 58fl

Oakridge Park | 13 Towers | 154m | 52fl | 5M sqft

Broadway & Alma (right side of the picture) is the tallest building going up in that area. It is at the western edge of Vancouver proper, before UBC/Endowment Lands, which is its own thing.

I had no idea Sen̓áḵw was so far advanced already. Looks quite good.

Always appreciate Vancouver updates!

Amazing how fast things can move when they don't have to navigate through the years long permitting process of a typical project.

A larger reason for the advanced state of construction is that the project's financing is fully backed by the federal government.

I think the biggest reason is there's only one level of underground parking.

Digging holes is hard work!

There's more than one basement level.

There wouldn't be 3 (or 6?) towers under construction. There may not even be one without Federal involvement

The Sen̓áḵw development. Three towers are currently going up with another eight waiting in the wings.

Yay! The crane for Television City is going up, after a year of digging.

Some pics I took during my lunch break (all mine) from the Oakridge area:

Claridge House from Oakridge-41st Station:

Claridge House from 41st Ave.:

41st & Cambie from Oakridge-41st Station:

W42 from the front (Columbia Park). The first tower is topped out and the second tower is nearing grade. In my mind these two towers sort-of represent the start of the onslaught of rental construction that we are just starting to see. These are a result of the massive changes to the Oakridge plan, allowing for rental towers over a wide area. Now the Broadway Plan is kicking into high gear, and these towers are fairly consistent with what we will see going forward with most proposals being in the 18-22 fl. range.

W42 from the back (almost 41st Ave).

So, it's official now, The One will be 85 (possibly 86) floors in height. To be finished off by Tridel. Final height should be 308.6 metres.

Not Cobourg but little know Hanover, Ontario (population 8000). I was surprised to see this rather large condo underconstruction in their downtown.
