Poor East St. Louis/metro east. Tons of union industrial workers, gets shit on by Chicago and the rural illinois folks (in Chicago area terms it's like a smaller (but not much smaller) version of NW Indiana). Visitors often complain that there is nothing directly across the river...well that was all massive rail yards and roundhouses and fueling areas thats turned back to nature....in East St.Louis proper. There's literally 10 ft deep worth of locomotive ash.

At least Senator Dick Durbin is from East Saint Louis, but he's meddling in east st. louis club closing times "while rome burns." Its well intentioned, but misdirected. East Saint Louis used to be like a little slice of New Orleans with 24 hour jazz/blues clubs, etc, that people from all over the St. Louis area went over to enjoy in the 40s-60s. Still are "do what you want" strip clubs open all night but it means little in the big picture.

You may have remembered a few pages back I mentioned that contractors had to fix some structural problems this old building I live in is having and had to do some work in my living room as well as other parts inside and outside this place. Well, they started that work this past Thursday so now for the third time in three years my home is in shambles. Piles of furniture covered in sheets of plastic, more sheets of plastic, plaster dust and morter crumbs on the floor. Scaffolding in the living room, tools EVERYWHERE. The workers come in while I'm at work to replace the iron beams holding up the front wall in this building. The only bad part about this was on the first day they started working they messed up my cable so I had no TV (at first) or internet service for a few days. I eventually got the TV to work but not my computer (had to wait until Sunday morning). On top of that those damn dogs downstairs were still barking for hours on end so around 6:00 PM last Thursday I was ready to jump off the God damn balcony.

Ha! I had that typed in last night, but decided not to post, because I guess the outcome would be the same.

rock, is it at all possible to obtain a rocking chair and sit outside your front door holding a shotgun and glaring at people as they pass you in the hallway?

I don't know what this would resolve, but it'd be bad ass.

I didn't picture the balcony breaking off but I did think that with my piss-poor luck I'd just succeed in paralyzing myself for life.

Luckily, my bedroom (where I'm sitting now) is untouched from the mayhem in the rest of my house. I'll take photos tomorrow.
