This happened today. The site plan was approved and released. The final elevations have not been added.

The 1/3 of the block on the west side of the tower looks like wasted space. A plaza with a water feature would be nice there. But when I zoom in, there a structure there. What is that?

Those are the existing buildings. Bob's Steakhouse and all the gay bars on 4th.

Ok, definitely NOT wasted space and should be left alone there.

Maybe it's just the low resolution but the rendering in that photograph looks different than what we saw previously. It seems the window mullions aren't as pronounced or detailed. Also, what's going on towards the top of the building? It almost looks like that portion is open to the sky.

^^^I agree. It is a different rendering from which we have seen.

I think the rendering is showing the same design and all, but I'm not sure why they emphasized on the mechanical screen appearing open.

If you look at an earlier rendering, that space basically looks the same when viewed through the top.

It's the side view that makes it look different.

In 50 years when it implodes, collapsing into a giant exhausted heap, to ready itself for a real tower. A strapping 1000 footer.

Ugh, I feel gross contributing to this.

Our Moderator started it He has been the unofficial announcer of all the erections in Austin. Without him, we would never know where and when our next erection will come from. We should be grateful for all the erections ATX gives us.
