Well the PATH Hall, which provides access to the platforms, is opening this December along with B2 corridors. Retail in those corridors will open in Spring. The Oculus and the rest of the Transit Hub will open September 2015.

Nope, PATH ceiling was first conceived as a column-free space. It would have been supported by two extensive vierendeel trusses and a bearing system between the supercolumns below the Subway box and the North & South shear walls.

The structure of the ceiling was revised in order to reduce costs and accelerate the process of construction (PATH hall ceiling was required to be built to allow memorial plaza above to be completed by the 10th anniversary).

Personally I think it looks a bit ugly and misshapen when viewed from the side. Like it's squeezed vertically. Luckily the design was never meant to be viewed from such an angle and eventually it'll be tucked between 2 and 3 WTC.

Optical illusion plus only the rafters are painted=your poor statement.

His "statement" was an opinion. No need to get so uptight and defensive about his view on the design.

I myself love the hell out of the design, but as with anything else, there are people who don't have the same tastes as you or I. Lets just all agree that it's a unique and new landmark for NYC!

It looks silly to me so far. Maybe they will be able to pull it off and maybe it will look better in person, but you definitely can't say for sure it will be "magnificent" when all you can possibly base that off of is renders given as it's definitely not very pretty looking currently. Personally I think the rafters are just way to close together to inspire awe. It looks more like a giant hair clip to me.

I've been noticing lately how much the memorial pools smell like the water is straight from the river/ocean.

I remember reading there was some type of filter. Not that it's a bad thing, but it is noticeable.

Finally visited this WTC memorial area - it is beautiful.

Can't think of a more architectural striking complex in the U.S. Exterior wise, it's the modern-day Louvre of the country. Already iconic.

Now fix that crap antenna.
