^This is a transition home for folks with HIV. Seems to be a pretty cool project and proud to have it in my hood!

I wonder if they are behind schedule because of COVID, building material cost, both or something else?

Looks like the used car dealership that was recently torn down at 7545 Burnet Road will become... a bank.

Maybe the Chase bank branch at 7600 Burnet will move across the street to make way for the larger Chase building to be demolished for the mixed use redevelopment planned there.

Thanks, I live right around the corner from this one and walk by nearly daily and was wondering what it was going to look like. It's already about 3 stories.

Apartments planned for former Threadgill's site on North Lamar

https://www.kvue.com/article/money/e...c-9baf57873198

Quote:
AUSTIN, Texas — A new apartment complex is in the works where an Austin venue once stood.

A developer plans to build 100 apartment units behind the former Threadgill's location on North Lamar Boulevard, according to a report from KVUE's media partners at the Austin American-Statesman.

The Statesman reports that Austin-based developer JCI Residential plans to build apartments behind the existing Threadgill's property. JCI President Kurt Goll told the Statesman that there is no timetable for when construction might start, but it likely won't be this year because the site plan is still working its way trough the City review process.

Goll told the Statesman that there are no plans for a restaurant or office space in the new project. He also said the Threadgill's original front building will be preserved, though its not clear exactly how the building will be incorporated into the new project's design.

Does anyone know anything about this project proposed for 6901 North Lamar (that weird little office building east of the awkward intersection of Airport, N Lamar, and Justin Ln)?

https://abc.austintexas.gov/public-s...ertyrsn=235940

It's titled McNair Redevelopment, which is intriguing. McNair is also the name of a company that seems to develop mixed use, hospitality, and multi-family in Houston.

That spot is really awkward in shape and access, but it's got huge potential considering Project Connect and its proximity to the future Crestview Village development (Ryan Dr to Lamar/Justin) and new multi-family just to the south. It could also help with connectivity to the Red Line Trail if they cared to do so.

Been wondering about that property, it's been fenced off for awhile now.

Fencing is up around the old bowling alley site on Grover by McCallum HS destined to become another 5 over 1. Love how we are getting 700+ centrally located housing units out of two car dealerships and a defunct bowling alley but sure wish these could have included some ground floor retail.

Agreed. That section of Koenig (and surrounding) could've been a really cool walkable retail/commercial row.

As long as the project builds/reserves space for the Red Line Parkway trail in that section, I’m all for it.

Agreed! I can't wait for the trail to grow! I've committed to abandoning my car in favor of an e-bike for all trips <6 miles from my house and can confirm more bike friendly routes north would be much appreciated!

This is south of the RR tracks and west of Lamar, next to the city's Ryan Dr property.

7001 Burnet Rd - Right next door to 7113 apartments from my last post. This one is retail, offices, and restaurant space. Looks like it will have a short tower crane. These two project will transform this short stretch of Burnet.

This plan was first uncovered on this forum back in September 2019:

Site plan seems to be up.

It doesn't seem to have _any_ parkland dedication, much less space for the trail. How is that happening?
