kinda feels like when you have a neighbourhood of 50s bungalows and someone converts one into a 2 story ultra modern house - it looks cool but it look a bit odd compared to the rest of the neighbourhood.

Maybe the buildings around it will get a facelift like those 2 white and bluish grey apartment buildings have downtown

That brings me to a thought.. I've never heard of apartment buildings ever being torn down..

I also like the part that joins the 2 buildings with the amenity space on top, and probably retail or parking below - good way to camouflage things while also keeping it classy looking - noticing them doing that a lot in the new developments

Well, knowing people like Lamb, they seldom have projects that turn out different than the intended vision and renderings. If they stick with design elements like the ones they have shown so far, these two will indeed look very classic, and blend well with the other buildings in the skyline that were built before the 80's.

images and floorplans of 400 sq ft units need a lot of light to make them look bigger!

About the only saving grace for those units is that they seem to have a balcony. I just can't imagine dropping $250k for sth that small (in Hamilton, that is). Be interested to see if they fly off the shelf and what they might rent for.

The biggest hurdle to overcoming nimbyism is to get over "not understanding" other people's buying choices.

I don't know why someone would buy a stucco mcmansion in Winona, or a 400 square foot studio fronting the Gardiner Expressway (which from what I can see appears to be leased to a tenant) but people do! I'm sure these units will be occupied once built regardless of whether or not you personally would choose to live/buy there.

Would love to see this type of project replicated all over the downtown core. Been hoping for this day for decades...all Hamilton does is sprawl across farmland and drive us further into debt. So good to finally get some intensification in the old urban city. Exciting times downtown are coming up!

Just received a flyer in the mail today for this project. It is a nice glossy brochure. It says prices from the low 200's. Not much other information. It just says for an opportunity to buy you must register and gives a number to call.

I got one too, even up on West Mount area. Must've made over 200,000 of those glossy flyers, can't be cheap.

Print can be cheaper than you think; especially in large numbers. I'm guessing it cost more to distribute than to produce (think postage/delivery)

That lobby is pretty awesome though. I really adore the 2 storey full height panes of glass.

Also digging the 2 story lobby

I really hope nobody vandalizes those long 2 story high panes of glass though because they do NOT look cheap to replace..

Does anyone know anything about this skywalk mentioned on Brad Lamb's site?:

"Television City is a $360-million-dollar project that will house approximately 618 units in total once complete. Occupying 44,000 sq. ft. of land, the development will consist of two separate high-rise towers connected by a skywalk."

Does this just mean there will be like 2-5 floors between them, or is this like a legitimate hallway between both higher up? I don't see anything worthy of mentioning the word "skywalk" in the renders

I think it's just referring to the part where the pool is.

That can't be it. I wouldn't even be worth mentioning as it offers very little convenience since it's almost at ground level and won't really save any time... and you'll be exposed to the elements crossing buildings. Plus it's hardly in the "sky" to call it a "skywalk".

I have to believe it's just not represented in any renders yet.
