镇远隶属贵州省黔东南苗族侗族自治州，位于舞阳河畔，四周皆山。河水蜿蜒，以“S”形穿城而过，北岸为旧府城，南岸为旧卫城，远观颇似太极图。两城池皆为明代所建，现尚存部分城墙和城门。城内外古建筑、传统民居、历史码头数量颇多。城东的青龙洞，是一组规模极其宏大的明清宗教建筑群，其间既有佛教寺庙，又有道教宫观和儒家祠庙，三教合一，蔚为壮观.

Que is a freestanding gate tower in traditional Chinese architecture. First developed in the Zhou Dynasty ( 1046 BC–256 BC ) , que towers were used to form ceremonial gateways to tombs, palaces and temples throughout China.

A Que stone carving relic form Han dynasty ( 206 BC–220 AD ), placed in Three Gorges Musium, Chongqing city.

阙的设置。最初只有天子才有资格设置阙，成为宫阙，僭越之后，阙大量用于各种场所，不仅宫殿前设阙，城门外、寺庙前、陵墓道两旁都设置阙，成为宫阙、城阙、庙阙、墓阙。甚至衙署和大门前都可以设置阙。
