It looks like they are pouring the Eastern side of the top of the core. We should see a jump there tomorrow.

They think those numbers are unlucky, or something.

Probably because the character and number 4 is - in both Sino-Chinese and Sino-Korean languages - considered unlucky because it sounds similar to the word for death, also pronounced "sah". So expect them to skip floors 4, 14, 24, 34, 44, etc., in addition to 13, which is considered an unlucky number in western cultures.

Yep - every new building in Vancouver does this. It's awful.

Interesting.

Maybe this explains why The Wynn in Vegas skips the 40's all together? It goes 39 then 50...

Not just the Wynn but quite a few others. The Mandalay Bay goes from 39 to 60 It skips 20 floors.

Upward I do appreciate the feedback. Don't have much of a zoom, just whatever is on the Note 3. We do have a nice camera in the house but we lost the cord to connect it to the mbp in the move. Will try to get that when i get a sec...

The other afternoon I went to the Takami Restaurant on the 21st floor of 811 Wilshire. It is located 1 1/2 blocks to the East. With this jump the Grand was eye level with me.

A few days older. Some of the columns in the low rise section are pretty darn close to street level.

Does anyone know what the fine herring bone mesh is up against the rebar? I have seen it used in other construction projects before but do not see its purpose. Can some enlighten me please.
