I had a lot of trouble as well. After a little studying of Google Maps, it looks like Vanier Parkway at Meilleur Drive, with the latter slightly out of frame.

November 2017. I assume it was taken from the Hilton Hotel at the Casino du Lac-Leamy.

I'm guessing it's from Gatineau Park, perhaps from as far up as the Pink Lake area.

The King Mountain trail has a good view of the city and with a good telephoto lens, you might get this view.

Oh yeah. We can see the Sacré-Coeur Hospital and Mont-Bleu in there. The angle makes everything seem so close that I thought we could only see Hull Island on the Québec side.

For a closer shot, Chemin des Terres in Gatineau, running parallel to the A-50, has amazing views.

If anyone on SSP has a really good camera...

Someone needs to draw a straight line from the Peace Tower through the front entrance of the Museum of History. Camp Fortune Skyline?

Edit: Wattsford's Lookout. Never heard of it, but looks amazing!

thanks for doing that. I used to add a m or L to the image file name to reduce the size and for some reason it stopped working for me.

Anyways the view from the Gatineau side around the POW bridge is quite impressive.

Wow, great shot! We may not have the height but we do have the density

I wish there was a NCC protected view-plane from here to prevent the terrible Claridge Andaz and other monstrosities proposed in that area.

Amazing Dow's shot posted by Quall in the Canada section:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ottawa/comments/ndmgwo/sunset_last_night_over_dows_lake/

Reminds me of those Vancouver or Calgary shots that make the mountains appear right in their backyard

Is King Mountain trail accessible to the public anymore? The last I checked, most of the time, you can only get there by bike.

The parkway is open more often to vehicles now, I think the hours are online.

I take for granted how lucky we are to have so many trees in Ottawa. The city looks like a forest with a bunch of highrises popping above the tree canopy here and there. It's really nice to have!

Thank you for sharing this great photo, Harley!

You're welcome!

Side note: I just realized that you can see a bunch of windmills in the background of this pano that are half way to Cornwall, and they look massive. Isn't that insane? This was taken with the 10x zoom lens on my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Pretty neat.
