It's the perception. People think the O-Train network is a boondoggle.

Personally, I have few complaints with operations. Even early on when there were more issues, I understood this was a normal growing pains.

My biggest problem is with the sad state of certain stations. Parliament, Lyon and Rideau are gross. It looks like a 30 year old system in a third world country.

I don't make an effort to use the Otrain anymore because the riding experience is horrible. The vibration and the sound the train makes at every little turn is absolutely dreadful.

The Hurdman curve always got in my head, in a bad way. Overall though, I thought the O-Train ride was no worse (maybe even better) than the SkyTrain. Worth noting that my comparison was in September-October 2019 after returning from a visit to Vancouver. Vibrations on the Confed might have gotten worse since, but I don't know since I've only been on two or three times since March 2020.

I took the train earlier this month thinking the ride would be smoother after not riding it since last year. I was totally wrong, it is actually worst than before, big time.

After riding the TTC subway for years and hearing it howl around every curve, clunk over every crossover, overcrowding issues, wheel flat spots, door malfunctions, signal issues, lack of swing handles, track fires, major accessibility issues, daily system shut downs...And don't even get me started on the streetcars. The sounds could deafen you and a fender bender shuts the whole line down. The O-Train is a dream in comparison. I'm not sure what people in Ottawa were expecting? Maybe a Japanese maglev quality ride? The O-Train is miles above the ride quality of the city bus fleet. There are no subway/LRT/metro systems in N.America that are perfect. Ottawa's system is up there.

The double decker ride upstairs is pretty relaxing usually puts me right to sleep compared to the vibration and noisy Otrain.

I'm not expecting Japanese maglev quality, is that line even opened yet?

Outaouais' population expected to reach 454,000 by 2041. Gatineau's population is set to increase from 350,000 to 399,000 over that same period.
