No, I think we're in "Scenario 2", so construction start in the spring.

The side"walk" at the eastbound bus platform of Rideau is getting full-on unsafe to walk on thanks to its unevenness, and this in dry weather. It's not going to be fun this winter.

And that's from an able-bodied perspective: see a lot of people using wheeled assistance who are having trouble getting around at this spot.

We need to stop treating local bus service and its facilities as afterthoughts.

We seem to be developing an obsession with designing local transit only for those who are 100% able bodied when our population is aging

Except for spending several billion on one of the most accessible transit system upgrades the world has ever seen. The problem is that bus transit has taken a back seat to train transit while this project was proceeding. The focus is now turning back to bus transit while they 'get the kinks worked out' after all these GD busses are taken off our gridlocked streets.

"Taking all these GD busses off our gridlocked streets" is not the correct statement of the overarching policy goal.

In fact, for a very large chunk of this city, putting MORE buses on the streets is urgently required.

The mission creep of "replacing the central busway with rail" to "get all the buses out of downtown" is very, very, very damaging to the transit situation in the older urban parts of Ottawa.

Rideau street is planned for a full overhaul after the full service change, which will probably be pushed to next spring.

This is the issue with temporary infrastructure and repeated delays. We're stretching things to the limit, but there's little desire to fix things when the train is always a couple of months away. Scott Street is bad too.

I thought Rideau Street between Sussex and Dalhousie will open after confederation line opens but it is still closed.I believe they want to renew the street between Dalhousie and Sussex drive. Could that be the reason?

Nothing road related will change until after the bus network changes on October 6th.

I tweeted the city of Ottawa and they said Rideau Street between Sussex and Dalhousie will remained closed until streetscaping is complete.

The ottawa project website has been updated (https://ottawa.ca/en/city-hall/public-en...-drive-dalhousie-street#project-overview), with the big change being the addition of a bidirectional cycle track on the north side of Rideau from Sussex to William (as part of a separate project this cycle track will continue west on the north side of Wellington until O'Connor where it will join the O'Connor Bikeway):

Also of note - Rideau Street will be entirely closed during construction - meaning most OC Transpo buses will have to be detoured to Mackenzie-King. This will be a major disruption for those who want to transfer to Line 1 at Rideau Station.

To be really useful that cycle track needs to extend as far as Cumberland, with corresponding proper north-south bike tracks on Cumberland between the uOttawa and the Market.

Yes! the Welington St. bikeway project (also coming this year I believe) will apparently take care of the connection from Sussex west to O'Connor.

The connection to Ogilvy Square also opens up interesting possibilities on Nicholas between Besserer and Laurier for another connection to the Market. It isn't a cycling route in the current TMP but it could be designated as a route in the new TMP.

Also on ottawa.ca they are currently accepting comments for a new proposed cycle track on Cumberland as part of the 245 Rideau Claridge development:

It looks like they eliminated the bus lane. It will be annoying to be stuck in one lane when two buses need to stop. Can't they just go all the way and return it to buses only?

William street?
Hopefully they remove some of the parking near the LRT entrance. There wasn't much of a bus lane in the earlier plans either.
