If only. This is two boxes with different textures meeting at angles in plan (much like Fairmont Pacific rim and countless other Vancouver towers), sitting on two other boxes meeting at angles in similar fashion

Agreed!

Its a very simple tower, but really pops and looks unique with the balconies.

Fantastic pics thanks!! Wonder if they've decided on the black or white balcony frames / railings? Really hope they go with white.

Huh. I literally came here to say the opposite.

If you look in the early images I the above set, the balconies look great because you *can't* see the white frames of the balcony. They look invisible so the geometric shapes of the deck roof elements are emphasized. The white balcony lines distract from that.

Black balcony frames would be the closest to unnoticeable, thereby helping to keep the focus on the architecture. IMO.

Went and looked at it in person yesterday, you've convinced me, totally prefer the black, they work much better.

I like the fins on the north side of the podium.

Thanks for the great update, McMinsen.

I'm certain that extensive engineering analysis and modelling went into the design and structure of the white patio structures, but I just get an anxious feeling in my stomach every time I look at them and think about a major wind storm. I lived in Coal Harbour (a block from this project) when the Typhoon (?) hit Vancouver and did so much damage to Stanley Park. Again, I'm sure that these structures would weather the storm, but I just can't help but recall the wind absolutely howling through our normal glass patio railing, and we were only on the seventh floor.

Never the less, kudos to this project for attempting something so different and pulling it off so well.

The concrete ledge/reveal is a nice touch on the south side of the east half.

Good to see dark railings on the east half. Hopefully they'll do the same for the west half.

The black railings are being installed on the west side as well.

What a cool way to make an otherwise typical condo building into a piece of art.

The renderings show a sunshade on the left most set of balconies on the Cardero side and wrapping around to the north side.
I guess that has been scrapped? I don't see any attachment points around the corner.

I don't see any difference between the render, and the 'as built', except that the render had a weirdly distorted perspective. The angles shades were always shown on the corner of Cardero and W Georgia, and the second render you show matches mcminsen's 3 March picture .
