Hadn't seen Guild Lofts on S. 1st in 78704 mentioned before. I just noticed them today. Maybe they weren't mentioned because they aren't tall.

Nice updates yesterday, Urbannizer! There are three tower cranes up now in SoCo. The view looking South from the Congress Ave bridge is pretty cool.

The verrrrry long delayed 1155 Barton Springs project is on the agenda for AULCC on 09/20. The start of construction is listed as 09/10. The elevations are included in the plans, and it looks to be 100' tall.

No way in hell the NIMBYs are letting that one touch 100'. If the Taco Pud died on Lamar at 96' I'm guessing this is the 'announce at 100' so they can consider the 70' I really want a "win"' strategy.

This project has been approved for a long time, so the NIMBYs are not an issue. Financing has apparently been the problem.

The Taco Pud was also approved. The developer decided to stick with a fast food restaurant instead of the apartment building.

What are they allowed per existing code, 60'?

I'll look it up.

zoning is CS-1-V-NP

looks like 60' is the highest.

damn....hell yeah. I'm a member of the High Road on Dawson. I wonder what the impact will be on the view from the High Road, because it is one of the best views I've seen of downtown Austin.

It's really only 100 feet (I measured it to 102 feet) from the Barton Springs Road side, and only because the ground elevation is so low there. Up the hill, the building only rises 44 feet to the elevator shaft on the south side of the lot.

FAA permit for 227 foot crane at 1600 South First Street. This is at the development replacing the funeral home just south of Monroe Street. I can't remember the name of it though.

Ha. I just looked this one up a couple days ago because I noticed the giant hole in the ground when I drove down South First. Couldn't find much other than PSV is doing it.

It's four stories with underground parking and retail on the first floor. Pretty decent design too.

Mission Capital Arranges $29.4M Construction Loan for Mixed-Use Project in Austin

AH! That's going in at the State House Apartments, right across the street from the St. Vincent and Hotel Magdalena sites. The design is killer. I'm LOVING the maturation of South Congress as an iconic corridor, like Austin's quirky, hyperlocal Rodeo Drive, and the killer view doesn't hurt either.

I also really love everything in Austin that Endeavor is behind- Plaza Saltillo, the Domain, and the Grove at Shoal Creek among them. They might be my favorite firm working in the city.

The next big coup down here will be all the Texas School for the Deaf street frontage, and that's a strategically perfect position for a rise in density with all that's planned just south of the Lake. Love watching Austin mature at warp speed into the newest iconic American city.
