I love the current 101 Spadina design. Really hope it dosent get watered down.

Reduce it to 2 stacked designs over 3. I kinda like that idea. The top tier has the least in common with the other tiers and the height doesn't work too well with it's industrial neighbors so may as well just do away with the top tier completely.

Crombie REIT is planning to build 3 new towers on the land they own in downtown Halifax, concentrated around Scotia Square. They are also working on a few smaller renovation projects on the Scotia Square complex itself.

That stretch of road in the photo above is awful. They'll have to do the whole street to make it pleasant to be on. Are there any plans to get rid of that mess of 'highway' next to Scotia Square and re-introduce the street grid?

Without that I can't see this area ever reaching its potential.

They are planning to remove the interchange in a few years,

Yes, the Cogswell interchange is coming down and it is going to be redeveloped into new city blocks with highrises: https://www.halifax.ca/transportation/transportation-projects/cogswell-redevelopment-project

Demolition is expected to start later this year, but it will take a few years to complete. It seems like a good time right now to redevelop some of the land near the interchange so that the new buildings can be integrated more seamlessly in 4-5 years.

Agreed. Love to see some more density coming to Halifax. Hopefully the building in that last render has some interesting retail or something in the podium to draw some foot traffic.

An update on the Oakridge Mall redevelopment in Vancouver.

The original proposal was approved back in 2014 but has since been scaled back due to the discovery of an aquifer on site. In total, a second floor retail level and 450 condos have been deleted from the redevelopment plans.

Here are the latest renders of a major project for Sherbrooke. If it ever sees the light of day, it would be the biggest investment downtown in decades (if not centuries). It consists in a major enlargement of a parkade that has reached the end of its lifespan and on which would be built a public space bordered by two 10- and 6-storey mixed-use buildings. It is part of Well inc., a wider strategy aiming to provide a huge boost for Wellington Sud, which has been derelict since like forever.

That Vancouver proposal is stunning. My only criticism of it is that they should incorporate different materials on some of the buildings. As is the shapes are different but they still look like a bunch of similar sibling towers. Is there going to be a restaurant or cafe in the covered seating area on the right of the centre path?

The Sherbrooke one is less flashy but also very nice.

Another major scoop for Montreal's $100M lot.

In addition to the 36-storey National Bank head office, there will be an additional tower as well as a 60-storey condo tower which could very well become a top 5 tallest (floorplates of 3.5m gives you 210m which is 5m under the maximum height for this lot so fingers crossed).

Exciting times for Montreal!
