Agreed! In fact, I bet that's the main reason... along with dispersing the transfers out over two stations. If you're in wheelchair, on a bike, pushing a stroller you'd have to depend on TWO elevators working at Lougheed otherwise. There are many cases where an elevator or escalator is out of service, so not requiring the use of one is a bonus for usability. That SFU students don't need to transfer is probably just icing on the cake.
Easy transfer to Expo Line coming from PMC @ Lougheed, Easy transfer to Expo Line coming from VCC @ Production Way. Also, it keeps the platform at Lougheed clear, distributing transfers from two directions.
The only inconvenient transfer there would end up being Expo Line to PMC, which is a new travel pattern anyhow. In short, the least amount of pain for existing travel patterns. Nice!
