The Rainey St. Hotel (Kimber Modern) is still alive. The city denied a request to update the original site plan a couple weeks ago, said a revised site plan must be filed.

The city has approved the changes to the Kimber Modern/Rainey St. hotel plans. The attachment to the permit says new elevations were submitted, and one floor was added to the building. The new elevations are not yet included with the permit. I hope the changes were mainly due to the floor addition, and not a re-design. The original rendering was pretty sweet.
They are all basically the same thing and they are all over the place including a new one on Owen Tech Blvd in Wells Branch. I don't mind them at all but all it takes is one fool falling asleep with a lit cigarette and the whole place goes up.
The hotel known as "504 E. 8th St." received approval on its CVC determination filing. This project first came to light a year or two ago in a Design Commission presentation for the Hyatt House hotel I believe. The site is currently two very ugly surface lots, and Magnolia Lodging is listed as the developer. Based on the developer's portfolio, this project will probably fit in perfectly with the neighboring Hyatt House and Hotel Indigo.
209 E. 9th St. This one was filed today, and is the site of the Capitol Tower which isn't going anywhere. But there is a small surface parking lot is on the west side of the site. https://www.austintexas.gov/devrevie...erRSN=11589935
823 Congress also owns the garage at 9th & Brazos, and that has been mentioned by me months ago as possibly being a future development. It was first brought to my attention on the shaggy forum by a guy in the industry. Maybe that could be it?
That location is (was?) a Hertz Rental Car facility according to the Google Street View Judging from the street view from May, it looks like it's been closed.

There plans several years ago to add some sort of crown on that building.
