The CVCs are starting to have a noticeable effect on the Austin skyline. It will be interesting to watch it progress over time.
I agree - especially the Lamar bridge CVC for this part of town. It'll be great once everything fills in to see the various angles on buildings that wouldn't otherwise be there.
The aerial shot of the lot and surrounding area reveals that around 60 to 70 percent of the land is currently being utilized by cars. This is a sickness in sunbelt cities. I love my car, I love driving, I even love to sleep in my car when I'm traveling, so I'm not saying I don't personally LOVE cars. I'm just saying that the love of cars is a sickness that afflicts our cities and society. But I'm warning you --- you can have my car when you pry me out of its cold, dead hands.
Well, it's almost November. November should be a big month for groundbreakings: The Independent, Austin Proper and 70 Rainey. These are three of the best Downtown proposals yet to start IMO. I sure hope they break ground as scheduled.
I won't hold my breath about any of these projects getting started this month. I thought 70 Rainey was slated to break ground in October. I just don't think the other two are ready to turn any dirt just yet. Hopefully I am wrong.
Does anyone know what is being built at 909 Nueces? This is right near the 22-story, Aspen Heights Apartments project and there is a pretty substantial hole there. Would imagine it is going to be a multi-story building based on the foundation.

At 908 Nueces there is a 4-story condo project that got approval. But that would be on the other side of the street.
Great pic, and a perfect example of our below the fog line skyline except the Austonian. We should have at least a half dozens towers poking through the top.
