Internet high five brotha!

In other news, we currently have two Cathay Pacific 747-800F's on the ground. One arrived a few days ago and went mechanical (slat issue). Parts were flown in today by another one from Chicago in the special "Hong Kong Trader" livery. That bird will be leaving around 1415 for Anchorage.

Does that mean next year we may get the HD773s for our LHR sectors? Hmmm Indeed.
I too think we need a second German destination even if it's on a seasonal basis. Leisure based routes to MUC or even HAM would be awesome! Been to both cities and there are surprising similarities to Calgary (Especially Munich, they get chinooks too among other things with economics and culture. Stampede and Oktoberfest the two greatest outdoor shows on earth!)

Back in the C3 days we had a few German legs in the summer.
I'm surprised how this winter all those UK flights for the ski trips have basically dried up!
I miss the Monarch/Airtours combo or Dbl Monarchs even at one year.

Could a possible Asian link by a mystery Chinese carrier be finalized by then for inaugural launch? I really hope so! Is PEK still the heavy favorite or are other cities on the play as well.
I haven't checked the YEG thread since somebody posted that EVA was adding a YEG pitstop next year (unconfirmed)

Tempted to skip work in the afternoon to catch the CX Trader depart..

I'd assume that will be the departure runway, even though they arrived from ORD they took 35L this morning. Nice surprise as I was able to see it nice and close as it passed over McCall lake on final.

Unless Harper unexpectedly dies, there is zero chance the airport will be renamed for him. All Canadian airports after politicians had posthumous designations.

Canadian airports that are named after politicians:
- YYZ Lester Pearson.
- YUL Pierre Trudeau.

- YXE John Diefenbaker.

When Peter Lougheed died there was some talk about naming YYC after him, but that quickly petered away. I still think you'd find a lot broader support for that, though (and many other former premiers).

For what it's worth a petition proposing the renaming of the East Calgary Landfill the Stephen J. Harper Landfill is catching up in numbers to the airport petition.

I'd be on board with Lougheed International. Mostly because it already sounds kind of aeronautical with it being close to Lockheed.

Having an airport named after Harper would just be embarrassing.

Despite the loss of the four weekly AC flights to LHR.

YYC will still have a 7.8% increase in seats to Europe next summer compared to last summer. About 1,030 seats per week.

The additions of Westjet to LGW, Edelweiss to ZRH and the upgauge of KLM to AMS greatly offset the loss of the AC flights and the loss of one weekly Condor to FRA.

So it ain't all bad!

This is assuming, of course, nothing else changes... but it's only October!

Edit: looks like the second LHR flight's slot is being allocated to a second daily YVR flight on a 787-8. That really surprises me actually.

Doesn't surprise me. Nowhere else to put it. That slot is poorly timed to move it out east. So YVR is the only option left.

They must be moving other flights around then because the YYC/YEG flights landed in LHR at 11:50. The new YVR flight will arrive at 14:20... so much later.

Thoughts on if/when we'll see the YYC-OGG/HNL flights go Rouge?

At the current exchange rate I wouldn't be surprised to see Hawaii flights take a beating this year.

Speaking of Rouge, ACR is picking up 5 brand new A321's. I assume these will be some sort of ETOPS but would they have the legs to do YVR-OGG/HNL? Loads are probably fine on the 767's but it would give ACR some more flexibility with scheduling.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Rouge making its way onto more domestic routes, especially to smaller centres. Already on YYZ-YXX/YLW, YYJ would be a logical candidate.

Hmm, my avgeek knowledge is slightly rusty on the A321's but I think they are not ideal birds for AB-Hawaii.
