Well at least this one will be iconic. I literally can not wait until this is complete. So good!

There's still 99 Trinity left, across Cesar Chavez from the Convention center. Although that's closer to Rainey and not exactly lakefront.

2nd & Nueces is going to be a pretty impressive urban intersection. The boxy corners going straight up add to the impressiveness.

What concerns me about this building is the south side. Seems kind of fussy - it's slopes & tiered & offset & chamfered.... Too much going on.

The other 3 sides of the building are nice though. The west side sail is looking fantastic. The solar shading around the windows there really adds variation to the look of the building from different angles.

That corner has become a wind tunnel. It's amazing what these buildings do to street level wind.

Yeah, I've been fighting it for a while, but I think the south, and particularly the southeast view are kind of ugly in the renderings.

The glass on that side that's gone up so far also gives me 80's vibes.

But the sail is cool, and I'm sure overall it will be very impressive. And no doubt a signature building.

This thing looks great from a distance, the white fins really stand out especially at an angle so it will really stand out amongst the blue glass buildings we have everywhere.

Is that A shaped apartment complex in the CVC? Seems like such a waste of space and should be taller?

I dont think so. The CVC is further east between Bowie and the Independent

It's an apartment called "Gables Park Plaza," and next to it is Gables Park Tower. I don't think it's in the CVC, but it's a fair amount older than most buildings in the area (built around 2008, I believe?).

It was built at the same time as the Spring Condos, and the only other highrises within 6-7 blocks of it were the Monarch and the 360. So looking at the area without the Bowie, Independent, Seaholm, Shoal Creek Walk, etc., it's not really that out of place given where it is.

It’s funny that buildings built not long ago — and in a much different growth stage for Austin — now look out of place, or as candidates for redevelopment. Just points up how much and how quickly things have changed.
