The white 3 story structure shown in the Madison Centre site photos was almost completely demolished as of Saturday afternoon. I sat across the street and watched for awhile - demo work is so interesting!

I like more hotels but this looks suburban-slabby. Not good.

Agreed - that looks like it would be at home down by SeaTac or something.

There should be clear minimum design standards downtown where these kinds of suburban proposals aren't even offered by developers because they are not allowed, period.

I agree. Its not like Seattle is desperate for development.

Kevin Daniels of Daniels Real Estate, who bought the church building several years ago, said he terminated the church's lease in July in advance of his plans to start construction of a the Fifth + Columbia high-rise office/hotel project that will rise on the lot just to the south of the sanctuary.

No nuance needed: Big expansion plans for communications company in downtown Seattle

Nuance Communications, a global company with 12,000 employees, is more than doubling the amount of space it occupies in downtown Seattle's historic Exchange Building.

Commercial real estate broker Rod Keefe of Kidder Mathews on Monday said that Nuance has signed a long-term lease for three more floors in the 22-story building at 821 Second Ave. This will give the company around 82,000 square feet in the building, where Nuance already occupies two floors, or about 30,000 square feet.

And they keep on coming...............

Expansion continues: Amazon to add 778K square feet of office space with two more buildings in Seattle

by Taylor Soper on September 11, 2014 at 12:15 pm

Another day, another Amazon building going up in Seattle.

Amazon has submitted proposals with the city to construct two buildings on a block near the company’s new 3.3 million square foot campus in the Denny Triangle area that’s currently under construction.

As noted this morning by the Puget Sound Business Journal, Amazon plans to build one 24-story tower and another 6-story building on the block between Seventh and Eighth avenues, and Bell and Blanchard streets. There are also proposals to build a 1-story retail building, and two “office podiums” at 3- and 5-stories each.

In total, the buildings will provide an extra 778,000 square feet of office space. Amazon paid $52 million earlier this year for the block, which is just north of the new campus and currently serves home to the Hurricane Cafe, a Budget Car Rental office, a Cornish College of the Arts residence hall and parking lots — all of which will be taken out to accommodate for Amazon’s new properties.

Here’s a look at the permit filing:

Here’s an angle from the Seventh Avenue and Bell Street intersection:

And here’s the view at Seventh Avenue and Blanchard Street:

Amazon has been gobbling up land near downtown Seattle for the past few years to accommodate its explosive growth. The online giant plans to build three 38-story office towers and an eye-catching three-sphere biodome on the new 3-block campus that it acquired for more than $1.1 billion, which will compliment Amazon’s current headquarters campus in South Lake Union.
Amazon also has options to buy another large chunk of land just to the north and west of the block purchased in January.

On top of all this, Amazon expanded again last year with a new 10-year lease for about 140,000 square feet at the Metropolitan Park North building. In addition, it has begun work on the 380,000-square-foot project of two connected buildings and open space along Westlake and 9th Avenues, between Mercer and Republican Streets.

A lot of new jobs are coming to downtown thanks to Amazon. Good to see such an investment come to life for the good of the people.

Miami Condo Developer Buys Denny Triangle Block For $18.5M

Quote:
Miami-based luxury condo developer Crescent Heights wants in on all this Denny Triangle tower-building action. That's why they just paid $18.5M total to two different sellers on the northwest corner of Minor Avenue and Stewart Street. At just over six-tenths of an acre, the developer plans to turn that lot into either a "high-rise condo or apartment project." That's a prime location given what's coming to Denny Triangle. It's right next door to the Daola Tower hotel/condo project and walking distance from Touchstone's Tilt49 & Hill7 projects.

That's funny. Their photo is the wrong side of the street.

That block has three other 440' projects planned, by three developers, which itself is pretty remarkable for less than two acres, by Seattle standards.

That's interesting. I thought it was just a site that a previous proposal was on, a twin tower highrise, but it looks to be just south/southwest? of that one.
