that's a good spot for one.

is anything lined up for the vacant spot in denman place mall - that bakery spot.

also that bakery that took over the old BG on davie street is 24 hrs and when i walked by late at night around midnight it had quite a number of people in it, just what that area needed when it was the BG it always seemed to be closed or empty

Brekka took over that spot on Davie, same with the other old BG spot at Bute and Robson. That is their third location with the original being at Fraser and 49th.

I was talking with a merchant around there and the word is that the HSBC is moving into that vacant spot and Shoppers is expanding their existing space into where the current HSBC is located.

The HSBC is only taking over part of the old restaurant space.

The old restaurant in Denman Place Mall plus the old Topdrawers location are going to be renovated so that the retail meets the street at the sidewalk instead of being under an antiquated overhang. The units will likely be subdivided.

The old restaurant just closed down... they have their main restaurant/deli in North Vancouver still.

The Topdrawers men's store has moved interestingly enough right near the Brekka on Davie @ Hornby. Topdrawers is now at Davie @ Howe.

The luggage shop just inside the mall behind the old Topdrawers has also closed as HSBC wants that space too. The luggage place has its main shop in Lonsdale Quay.

There was a sign on the Robson St. Five Guys Burgers saying

"Sorry for the inconvenience, closed until further notice".

Maybe a health code violation?

Yeah, they were open when I walked by at 5:00 pm.

+++++++++++++

The Subway Restaurant at Nelson & Mainland seems to have shut down.
Signs on the doors say "closed for renovations" - but that may just mean closure.

McDonalds in Steveston has closed:

Seems odd with so many young families 'n the hood it was always full when I used the toilet.

OTOH there's a lot more upscale choice in Steveston-and Richmond in general.

Maybe they're moving into one of the 18 million vacant storefronts right along the water?

The Cellar closed today and will begin a 6 Week Renovation and reopen as Belmont.

Granville Entertainment Group will still remain as owner.

I don't know how much the franchising fees might be, but the Chipotle restaurant in Downtown must be a gold mine. They charge high prices, but still there is pretty much always a line-up. I also frequent the restaurant once a week, as their tacos are so damn good.

I could see several more Chipotles doing very well in Downtown area. Business idea for someone looking to establish a franchising restaurant.

Also the Tap & Barrel in SE False Creek mustbe doing extremely well. The place is packed no matter what time you go by it. They are not even anything special IMO, but it seems that the location could sustain several more patio restaurants.

It is, but it's extremely weather dependent. With Craft and that other Steel Toad one opening soon, we'll see how the winter goes.
