I kinda miss the old skyline. Never realized how much I liked it until recently. I love The Bow, EAP, Centennial, and all the other major changes, but the way it used to be had such a nice quality to it.

I wasn't talking about residential towers, as I clearly have eyes I didn't realize that's what you were referring to.
The commercial towers are a bit, I guess, but it's less noticeable due to the height of many of Calgary's towers. Same with Toronto. By contrast, it is far easier for buildings in Edmonton or Ottawa to look stubby.
We don't see enough Ottawa on here... Here's a nice picture showing the "largeness" of our core. Unfortunately, because of those Peace Tower restrictions, we only have density to "show-off", not height. Still nice though...

You are right..There isn't enough of Ottawa on here. Guilty..I need to get off the couch ....Agreed, it does have some nice density ..I don't know what's more impressive..Cities with the same office space having 10 buildings at 50 stories, or 25 buildings at 20 stories..To me, looking at a dense packed skyline is equally impressive as a tall one...Anyways, nice pic..Thanks

That's why I love Calgary's skyline so much, it has great aspects of both worlds! Height and impressive density
And a balanced spectrum of colours. Calgary's skyline certainly isn't boring.
I used to think the Calgary Tower was a bit tacky, but with all the blue glass that has risen in the downtown, I appreciate what the Calgary Tower brings (especially its red).

That said, I do love it at night, especially when the Olympic Cauldron is aflame.

I think they should fit some kind of crystaline glass matrix to the tower portion with tons of under-lighting. Add 2 floors to the pod section and a new spire twice the height (as per the original design) and clad the pod in the same crystaline matrix but with red, silver(chrome?), and white glass.

I'm polar opposite. I absolutely LOVE the Calgary Tower. It's a creation of it's time and likely my favourite structure in all of Calgary. This isn't an opinion based on architecture and style, but more nostalgia. When I think "Calgary", the image of the tower is what comes into my mind. Might have to do with me growing up here.
