This is from a side-bar in the Tribune:

Bond money initially intended to build new offices for the Salt Lake County District Attorney will be re-routed to five other projects further along in the development pipeline.

Higher-than-projected costs have kept the District Attorney’s Building in limbo, but the $33 million bond floated by the county for its construction must be put to use before year’s end or the county will face penalties.

So the County Council approved a resolution Tuesday, specifying that portions of the bond are being used to help pay for work already done on plans for the District Attorney’s offices, a new Health Department building, a new fleet shop for maintaining county vehicles, a senior center in Midvale and the purchase of land beneath the Calvin L. Rampton Salt Palace Convention Center from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

If the county acts before November 2016, it can purchase that prime downtown property for about $6.4 million, under terms of a contract that had let the county use the land for $1 a year for the past 50 years. Otherwise, the fair market value of the land rises to $21 million.

Once a decision is reached on the District Attorney’s future offices, a separate bond will be issued to cover those costs, county officials have said.

So stupid that they have to spend that money and can't just save up.

Excited to see the design of the UPAC today! I wonder if we could guess who on this forum will like the design and who won't before we even see it? I bet we could get close

Very nicely said DCRes.

I am excited to see the design even though I'm pretty sure the office tower design won't be included, particularly since it's a different architect, a different funding source and a different timeline for completion.

I will be there today, just as I have for all the other PAC meetings.

Well, some people are easy to please. Based on the architectural firm's other Performing Arts designs, I'm prepared to be unimpressed. I predict it will be a boring box.

Or that some can never be pleased.

So the press gets a look at 11am, the Mayor is shown at 11:30 and then the public meeting is at 5:30 tonight, is that right? If so, do you think the renderings will pop up on a press site somewhere before 5:30 tonight?

Nope, I'm very pleased about a LOT of things. Most of the architectural designs I am pleased about are NOT in Utah, though.

I love the Adobe offices in Lehi, though and the new design for doterra's office in PG.

Yes, I was expecting that it would. Unless the city has asked for an embargo on releasing the design until after the public meeting, but I doubt they have as most people won't be going to the public presentation.

The pictures so far don't seem to show the facade of the building.

This doesn't really show us anything. I hope there's more then just a model of how the inside would look.

Perhaps this is all the press were allowed to see prior to the meeting and the full designs will be revealed to the public this evening

Another letdown. Seriously, when they say "design unveiled", it should mean that the exterior of the building is ready to be shown. Was that the press' fault for daying "design to be unveiled"?

Boy no kidding. There's no design unveiled what so ever. Just a footprint and a model that doesn't really show much. Men, between this and Provo fiber line today is turning out to be a major bust. Too wrong words...."Epic" and "Designs" I hate the media sometimes. Hype = disappointment.

No, the designs will be shown tonite at 5:30.

I've seen the designs. I wasn't impressed with the design of the building, but the ideas were amazing. They really will utilize Regent Street in a cool way. The facade is nothing special in my opinion.

Is this it from the youtube video a month or so ago? If so, it looks like something from the 60's.
