lol, i would have freaked out if i were standing right in the middle there. I wonder if anyone pressed the yellow alarm strip.

A 4 minute overview of the Canada Line skytrain in Vancouver BC with dance background beat music. Short clips of train interior, train pulling in and out from Waterfront, Olympic Village, Broadway City Hall, Sea Island Stations. Short clips of the overhead guideway and across the North Arm/Middle Arm bridges, including the portal near Marine Drive.

When i was riding around last week twice there was actually a cleaning person going through the train while it was underway picking up discarded newspapers and sweeping up some of the bigger pieces of garbage. Definitely a nice thing to have and explained why the cars were much cleaner then even the skytrain cars (rode on one that had a row of popcans and other garbage sitting on the front window), or the CTrain here which is notorious for being full of discarded papers by the end of the morning peak

Yea, there's a huge contrast in cleanliness between SkyTrain and the Canada Line.

I have no idea why Translink can't do any better with SkyTrain.

i want to express my feeling...

that was a good thread and until Canada Line was operated, I was looking the thread and glad that Canada Line was an ahead of schedule. I was saying that this thread was so great to let me know the progresses of construction and express my comments to make the Canada Line better.

I wanted to thank Google because it let me know there was a forum talking about this construction.

sometimes, I will then express my comment in Metro Vancouver Transit thread or other threads if necessary.

Bye canada line thread! (if it is going tonight). I remember 2 things:

-I think I started the proto-canada line/rav thread a long time ago, when the western canadian thread was still not split among the western provinces and all lumped together. I posted a cknw piece about how fred bass said he thought the canada line was not needed b/c he could drive to YVR within 30 minutes.

-myself emailing everyone on the translink board and the city of vancouver several times urging them to approve the canada line, and telling my friends and family to do so. civic involvement at its finest...

Well, it was fun, and in some way, i'd like to think that me and everyone posting here somehow contributed to its construction and future success!!!!

Wow, can't believe it's the end of the C-Line thread. I've been following it ever since the first few pages of the very first C-line (well, the RAV Line as it was called back in the day) thread almost 5 years ago, followed by the approval and the construction of the project. I always thought these 5 years would be very long, but here we are!! The funny thing is that I've waited for this day for so long, but ended up right here in Minnesota during the opening of the C-Line. I guess I'll be the last person on this forum who'll try out the C-Line, either this Christmas or next May 2010 when I come back for a visit (I have to, since I live in Richmond).

Thanks so much for everyone on this forum who kept this thread alive, and kept me well entertained for all this time!! I'll still be around this forum, lurking around other threads. But it's this very thread that ultimately led me to join this forum. Really, it's the C-Line that really got me fascinated with public transit (I was very much a car person before that. Not that I'm less a car enthusiast today. I still very much am, but I've also taken this interest as well) and urban planning in the first place. I did before with the HK MTR before I immigrated but not to this magnitude

This is possibly the longest thread I've ever seen and followed- REALLY, this thread can potentially be the world's longest continuous forum thread, not kidding. Man, we should contact Guinness Book of Records for this!!

Some final thoughts @ 11:56 PM PST:

So today I rode the Canada Line for the first time. Too many people!!!

But the trains were a lot bigger than I thought, having almost a monorail-feel.

Maybe having a station @ 57th Ave won't be so bad. A station is definitely needed @ 33rd Ave.

Doors closed way too fast. I got separated from my friends @ Aberdeen because a stupid girl was blocking the doors with her bike.

Nothing wrong with the TMVs thank God.

Need more entrances at underground stations.

I LOVE THE CANADA LINE!!!
