Great updates again gillynova. This is really disappointing. Intracorp left us with an abandoned and deteriorating building (that was previously a thriving business) next to the convention center when they cancelled their Conrad tower.

Nice view of the skyline on one of the KXAN cams today. Put a (very) quick edit together of maybe what the skyline will look like once all under construction are completed. Sadly, 44 East didn't make the cut.

It's a pretty stunning 'reveal' of the city as you round that bend on 35 at Riverside. You see hints of the skyline in the distance, but them 'BAM" there it is.

Are there any comparable approaches to a city skyline in the US? The most dramatic one I can think of is in Pittsburgh as you exit the Fort Pitt tunnel.

After Rainey jumps out at you while driving in from the south, a look down the river towards the western side of downtown really pops with the Sail and Independent and surrounding towers.

Pittsburgh is the only other U.S. city that I could think of with the "bam effect". But I'm sure there are others.

Some that are definitely worth mentioning beyond those and San Francisco:

Portland: the southern approach of I-5 as you elevate onto the Marquam Bridge.

Seattle: the eastbound exit from the East Portal after you round the curve.

Nashville: northbound on the Silliman Evans Bridge as you continue onto I-24 from I-24/I-40.

San Antonio: southbound on 281 as you round the curve at Stadium Drive.

If Chattanooga, Birmingham, and Asheville had bigger skylines, they have bam worthy approaches as well.

Sam Francisco, Pittsburgh, and Austin are better than them all, though, with more imposing and larger skylines and/or at a much closer distance in that “first moment” of being seen.

I really can't think of another spot. This one I took in SF and it's usually my favorite "bam effect" but it's not as close as Rainey

Crossing the river on Mopac and around the interchange with Cesar Chavez/5th, etc., is one of my favorite views of DT.

Here's what I would call a double BAM grand reveal. Approaching Seattle on I-5 NB, you are first greeted to a grand panoramic view (at 4:55) and then bam, right under the skyline (at 5:46)
