Funny you should mention that, though. I saw a draft of an altenate proposal for the Columbia Center that hade beige stone cladding. Dunno why the black version won out, but I'm glad it did. The massing and setbacks were pretty similar to what got built, but there wern't the curves. The windows were squarish.
Don't know where I could find that book now, I had my mother the librarian borrow it from another library (maybe the UW) on a loan back in the 80's. It would be cool to see that render (actually it was a model) again.
