The Battery definitely needs to be replaced because it has the best view. For that location it is a bit shabby.

Given that number, the new proposals represent about a 40% increase for downtown. I don't know much about the market, but the number of rooms does seem a bit low. I would guess there is about the same number in the rest of the city. Considering that one hotel in a place like Las Vegas can easily contain 3000 rooms, the addition of 440 rooms seems pretty reasonable. There was not much foresight when they tore down the historic Hotel Nfld in 1982, what a waste.
