i think victor or shawn or someone has seen a proper rendering of this one and reported that it was somewhat good. it's a ralph johnson so odds are it won't be a pile of shit.

Yes, I've seen it. There might have been some minor changes made over time, but from what I have seen, its very good. About 638' feet in height, if I remember correctly. IMO, it should be bumped up, the Spire needs some neighbors. There is a sales trailor being preped for opening on the site. Its too nice to be a construction trailor, as they are putting in landscaping bricks and large planter beds along the sidewalk.

Really? That was over 30% sold. Hmm, If true, I wonder if this is to raise some capitol top launch Park Michigan.

No idea, its being built under existing PD 368 (I think), which Dan McLean of MCL Companies has already gotten approved a few years ago. This property just like the Spire site was sold off to other developers, namely LR (now known as Related Midwest).

I just called the sales center, and they said August is when construction should start.

Again we'll see.

The developer is not selling the land for Park 1000 I believe is was the land next to it which he owned.

Gotcha. Can't wait to see the render in any case.

Regarding the Peshtigo. . . Shawn Victor and I all saw the renderings that are associated with the massing model you've posted. . . while I wouldn't call it groundbreaking architecture, it looks to be on par with any of Ralph Johnson's recent residential high-rise buildings. . . although I'm not a big fan of his work (aside from the Morton/Boeing Building), his buildings are at least contextual to some degree. . .

I'm not hearing endorsements of the sort here that squares with earlier chatter about how spectacular it was expected to be.

Heck spire even rhymes with fire!
Fire.... Spire....

Cala said the design was inspired by an Indian fire....

I think we may be onto something!

Anyway, great news on the Peshtigo. To be completely honest, I think Ralph Johnson's stuff includes some of the best residential buildings built in the last 50 years in Chicago. (He has a building now in Dubai - that's literally called "The Buildings" even though it is one structure).

Also, am I right to assume that the Gonzalez Hasbrouck design has been abandoned?

You're going to have to back that assertion up with a little more info if you want to rise above troll status.

Does anybody know if the Saint Clair's footprint will go all the way to Grand ? I would guess that since it doesn't have a big-box base like the Fairbanks with Dominick's, it will be a smaller site.

No, it doesn't go all the way to Grand. The Volare Restaurant is on the southeast corner of St. Clair and Grand and isn't going anywhere.

^ Saw scaffolding on a building east of Volare, and thought that everything was about to come down. Hopefully they're just tuckpointing - it would be nice for modern Cityfront to coexist with a few older relics of Streeterville (even if they're not architecturally significant).

Approximately half of the buildings needed for 150 E. Ontario have been demolished (leaving Bice and Bice Grill .... the second of which has been a closed down establishment for about a year). This has essentially created a SURFACE GRAVEL PARKING LOT.

Nice looking building... I just wish they'd hurry the fuck up and do something with the site rather than have a fuck'n gravel parking lot there.

Unless something has changed in the last few days, the site looks pretty much the same as it did on May 1.

I stopped by this past week and no work was being done. I even had my camera and didn't take any pictures which is unusual for me
