A Vezina goalie on an inept offensive team.

It's a bit early in the season to be taking too much from the current standings.

4-2 Vegas, Flames took their foot off the gas and Vegas got 3 in the 3rd. Quite the difference from the comeback kids last year, Flames are giving up a ton of goals in the 3rd now lol. Still early, only 4 games in so lots of time to right the ship.

15-20 games is when I start looking at standings.

This. At least a dozen.

Kind of surprised at Boston so far, but it's early and they still have the best goalie in the league maybe.

I also thought Florida might struggle a bit without Tkachuk and Barkov, but that team is just so deep.

*recognizing it's 'early days'*

Let me begin with an admittance of my admiration of Horvat's play; he continues to be one of the best all-round players out there.

As for the Oilers, lazy + fundamentally poor hockey and a lot of mixing things up (which I expect this time of the year) to see what might click.

#2 - one of his worst games in recent memory with 3 brutal giveaways, including a GA.
#97 - such confusing play by him overall. Not shooting more than a few times in the slot. Overthinking. His inability to be clutch continues to perplex. No goals through 4.
#29 - still trying to find it.
#25 - seemed totally checked out tonight other than his one great defensive stick.
#88 - all over the place and getting into it.
#49 - looks disjointed out there.
#74 - kept us in it and would have loved one more save, but honestly, is the reason we had a chance.
#XX - there were A LOT of passengers on tonight's bus.

Hits/turnovers/bad penalties/lack of kill-zone finish kinda tell the story.

Feels that way doesn’t it. Honestly, I’m ok with it as long as they don’t abandon the plan to develop young talent and grabbing additional draft picks to increase the odds of hitting on a few.

The Oilers inability to play basic hockey kinda worries me, with our coach sharing that they need to focus on making short passes and 'getting into their game'.

If the Flames remain at the bottom of the league, Kadri may change his mind about being traded. Andersson will be gone too, and I think we can get a 1st and a prospect for him at the trade deadline. Flames may be able to challenge for our highest ever pick (currently it was Bennett at 4).

If that continues for Calgary, my bet is that Calgary makes the difficult decision to offload 2 big guys to get picks and a few young guys with potential.

Calgary's got some thinking to do. Right now they don't look good at all, and are more like the team I was expecting last year.
The Oilers are off to a sluggish start, but I'm not concerned yet. The regular season is only a dress rehearsal for them. The hardest part is having to hang around and look interested until the playoffs start.

The 2 big guys would be Andersson and Kadri. Nobody will touch Huberdeau and I think we should absolutely keep Weegar. Maybe we trade Coleman too...

Habs/Flames - Great goaltending on both sides, but if it wasn't for Wolf's unbelievable saves on numerous occasions, Habs would have easily won it by 5 or 6 goals.

Always fun to see the Habs fans come out in numbers wherever they go. Pretty loud cheers from the stands at the Saddledome when they scored.

Gotta say, in my lifetime, haven't seen a Habs team so talented. Even the '93 Cup winning team wasn't this good. Future looks good in Montreal.

Dobes is clearly the #1 goalie. Monty simply isn't up to the challenge.

Edit: Habs play the Oilers today. Should be an interesting one. This being said, back to back games for the Habs + Monty in nets, means they will most likely lose.

The Maple Leafs have changed a couple game times so as not to compete head to head with the Jays in the World Series. Saturday the 25th will be at 5pm and Tuesday the 28th will be at 6pm, and the fans are invited to stay to watch the ball game on the video board as they have done in the past 2 playoff series.

Wolf played his best game so far last night, feel bad for him though, he wants to win. Dobes was impressive too, he closed the door in the second half of the game when the Flames finally woke up.

Was funny that the lights weren't working to start the game, haven't seen that in a while. 2 more seasons in the Dome and then it's time for the Fireplace to shine!

The Oilers back at .500 and with a -2 goal diff due to very little offence.

The Ducks have more goals than us.

??? Is everyone watching baseball or what ??? I'm not gonna lie, so was I, after the Habs game that is....

One word: Yamamoto

As for the Habs, glad they were able to bounce back with a win in Vancouver. From a 2-0 deficit, no less ! Demidov is going to win the Calder this year. When was the last time two rookies have won the Calder back to back with the same team?

Edit: according to chatgpt, it was the Bruins in 66/67 and 67/68, with Bobby Orr and Derek Sanderson.

Two things cost us that game against you guys...

Bad officiating, and Monty...
