I liked the design of this tower especially with how desolate Donald looked. Hope this one is still on the table, as it really spreads out the concentration of the towers. And when they do move forward, hoping its more than 18 floors haha.

Maybe Hilton realizes that even if they start over with a new conceptual design they will likely have it built and filled with guests before the competition (Sutton Place) gets completed.

Sutton is a running gag second only to Biff’s Dark Tower Redux

You know, I'm surprised the management in charge of the property of Sutton Place haven't seen a doctor yet with all the erectile dysfunction that's been happening on that site!

Likely. At this point, The Sutton Place Hotel seems like a joke, even to persons who are not an informed on what's going on. Mostly, because of the years pf idle cranes. .. I also liked the first rendering just as neutroniks mentioned... if they could add a few more floors, Great. Let them build a 27 or 28 floor tower instead. With Hyatt Centric planning to open next year, You would think that would light a fire so to speak with Sutton to be done before Hilton Garden which has 2028 as target date for stating I think. Northlands or whomever, They just do not give a KR_P. They also missed an opportunity to be open for The Grey Cup party this autumn.

Curious to see what happens to the project at 436 Balmoral St. The appeal hearing is on May 21. I've got to imagine that the appeal committee will side with Planning, Property, & Development and make the developer reduce the height of the building.

Just re-watching the hearing right now. I'm honestly shocked. Good on the city councillors who approved the project. It's not everyday you see city councillors approve a project that was denied by city planners. The building is going to look funny, it will be really tall and really skinny. But at the end of the day building more housing, in this case mostly student housing, is more important than a building looking kind of funny.

It appears to be within the downtown boundary.

Edit: woops it appears just outside the downtown boundary based on the Clerks report. I thought it was on the empty lot on the south side of Ellice.

I'm happy they are filling in that parking lot with something tall.

Hopefully this spurs development of the triangle parking lot at Colony/Ellice.
