I really hope that this never gets built, Haslam gets all up in arms, and moves the team out of Cleveland... a la Art Modell. But this time, let him take the fucking Browns name with him.

And then maybe there can be a real fresh start for football in Cleveland. The fans deserve it. New ownership with a truly new team. No more Browns. Paul Brown was out of Cleveland in the early 1960s. The actual Browns have been in Baltimore since 1996... almost 30 years now. It's just a name.

End the misery.

I think its very debatable if this ever gets built, especially the mixed used component. I know that area of Cleveland and its very industrial and blighted, so I don't see the appeal for the apartments and fancy hotels. Small/medium cities in general have tonnes of empty office space both in urban and suburban areas and for them to add over 500k of office space is just madness, 300k square feet of retail when traditional retail is oversubscribed and struggling is equally nuts, and they want public funds to do all of this. I think in the end they go back to the Lakefront or build a basic open air stadium on this site with nothing but parking around it. Ultimately I think thats all they really want, control of the parking.

These billionaires are getting out of control. I get that this is how America works to an extent, but there is no compromise or give and take on this project. That Buffalo Bills one was equally gross. Theres no return on investment for the community, you are just robbing Peter to pay Paul, i.e. poaching tenants from other parts of the city to fill this and line a rich man's pockets.
