Yeah that’s a piss poor excuse for a highway. They need to have proper interchanges. Not traffic lights, not roundabouts. A proper highway!

The city is spending some money having their west royalty traffic plan updated to incorporate all the planned changes private developers are proposing. The plan is only 2 years old, so at least the city is trying to stay on top of things. The province does need to play a better role in maintaining its highway.

I’ve heard that the province has consultants hired to review the Cornwall Bypass, it needs to be changed because the roundabout in North River is not working. It’s obvious to anyone with half a brain that the solution all along was to follow the original plan to connect with the bypass on Upton Road.

$41.6M is a substantial amount of coin. That's 1/3rd the cost of the Avenir Centre, which was built from scratch. Any idea what they actually plan with this refurbishment and expansion???

It was pretty substantial. They would be adding like 60 feet to the side of the building to expand the seating, and it would become a top down seating bowl like Avenir centre rather than a bottom up bowl like it is now. I think it would be 5200 seats or something. Essentially they’re rebuilding the arena in place.

I see Benjamin Moore signs are up at the new location out by the renovated building beside Boston Pizza in Charlottetown. With new buildings going up businesses just keep moving from one to the next leaving empty buildings. Unless new companies are coming in and filling the empty places after business move. Interesting to see how this one does in the new location.

I have been saying that for years. Bring in the right folks that can do a bypass like Halifax, Moncton, or Fredericton. Right on. Was for the article on page 220 at the bottom and top of page 221. As well I also agree with fixing the by-pass and doing it right to the Confederation Bridge and not piecemeal it in different sections. As well fix the Hillsborough bridge one and off and do that right and not the way they are going to do it and mess it up and then have to spend more to fix it as Stratford is growing fast.

Major clearing of land behind the Storage Inn from the edge of the bypass well in towards Sherwood Rd. Most of the trees are taken, at least the bigger ones.
There was a post about this in an earlier article about why this was being undertaken. Maritime Electric has a line going down the middle of this clearing.
Anyone hear what's going on here?

I see the Timber Mart out at the old Sears Building changed to a Rona Store. That will be interesting.

Good!! Empire Development is on the ball for getting things done. We may see something happen here after the clearing is completed.

A lot of earth moving beside the Arsenault Apartments on Sherwood Rd. I believe it may be access for trucks, etc. to get to the site for the new recently approved 75 unit apartment building.

New Kent store under construction in Summerside

The current store’s footprint is about 17,000 square feet,
while the new one will be a little less than triple that at 50k square feet.
The new Summerside Kent is expected to open by next early spring.

The subject property is within the Highway Commercial Zone (C-2) of the City of Charlottetown’s Zoning & Development By-law.
To increase the maximum permitted height for a proposed hotel building in the (C-2) zone from 12.0 metres (39.4 feet) to an average maximum permitted height of 19.96 metres (65.5 feet) in order to allow for a 6-storey hotel building on the subject property.
The Planning & Heritage Department recommends that the application for a Major Variance to maximum permitted building height for a proposed hotel building on the subject property, be approved.

Soon to start on this. Contractors are being set and we should see some action in the near future.

They're soon to start construction of a Home 2 Suites in Moncton too, also curiously immediately adjacent to a Hampton Inn.

Surprised there's not 1-2 Home2Suites or equivalent in Saint John. Between the mill, refinery, and hospital, there would be a consistent off-season market.

The province has a request out looking for someone to move the cottages and motel off the property on the corner of Malpeque Road and the bypass. Last I heard is that U-Hall was moving to this property, so I found it weird that the province is having them moved…anyone know what’s up?

Finally!! They’ve owned this property for 15-20 years. It’s about time they get this project done.
