ugh the way Madison House blocks the view of the Empire State Building from that one very particular angle is just outrageous there oughta be a law!!!

^ nope to the nope. i was all over midtown the other day — no problem seeing esb everywhere. you’re always going to lose ‘that one view’ in dynamic nyc — but it just makes for new looks.

I've always been confused by this argument, which has been especially present with 262 Fifth blocking the view of the ESB. - Yes that particular view along that specific sightline might be 'ruined', but stopping development purely to preserve a single sightline of ANY building goes completely against what makes NYC so unique. It is constantly changing and growing, at the expense of nothing but sky - it's what makes it so great...and so interesting to look at.

What I find most annoying about the argument against 262 Fifth is that the people that are actually affected by such developments aren't really bothered about seeing the ESB from every possible angle at all times...because they live here...and see it almost every day.

To the visitors that are upset that you can't see it from that specific plaza...walk a few steps to the right...and hurrah! It's back!

Some people just don't like a changing city, and are constantly looking for things to complain about. They don't really know how to express it, so they choose inane arguments such as that one. Over 99% of people who view the ESB won't view it from that specific location and angle they complain about.

This is a very thing building when looking from the other angle. As striking as the Steinway tower is for its thinness.
