Neat. I hadn't seen that proposal before.

What's the deal with thunderbird House? Is it active at all. It's fenced off and is dilapidated.

I was there when it first opened. Was so nice. You had to take your shoes off when going inside.

Definitely dilapidated, but actively, or at least occasionally, used.

What's the story behind Thunderbird House? How did it get destroyed so quickly and what caused its current state?

I think that is it currently Whaka Pimadiziiwii Pinaysiiwigami (Circle of Life Thunderbird House).

There was a messy court case between them and Neeginan Development Corporation in 2007 about the ownership of the building. Apparently Neegian was the sold the building for $1 by the 3 levels of govt and was going to turn over title to the building to Circle of Life if they did certain things.

Neegian was trying at that time to evict Circle of Life for noncompliance. I am guessing the court case did not find in favour or Neegian

I think Main St is doing work on their current building aren’t they? They rented an adjacent building with thoughts of using it as a temporary location but I think it’s just being used for storage currently. As I recall the MMF were also interested in the building for parking.

It’s fenced off in large part because people were climbing onto it and tearing up the roof for copper scrap

One line I thought was interesting that MMF hopes bell will use more of the building. If I recall correctly wasn’t there rumours bell wanted to sell their Osborne location? It’s all call centre work (or mostly) I wonder if they’d consider moving them downtown. The Corydon building doesn’t have a ton of space either (some areas are closed)

Such a shame. I thought that it was actually a good idea at the time, considering the land had been vacant for nearly a decade, once the old hotel at Higgins and Main had been demolished.

I wonder how the internationally acclaimed architect feels about thunderbird house and its current state.

Zero pride.

You’d think community members would have pride in that building and take care of it. But nope. It’s a complete wreck.

Good on Douglas cardinal for speaking up.

You'd think. It's a travesty and a shame. I mean moreso the world renowned architect comment. Just wasn't sure what you meant by that.
