Attention cyclists:

FortWhyte Alive has closed the south entrance to the trails until the end of May, due to construction. This means if one is planning on treking or cycling to FortWhyte ALive or the trails north of the nature centre, they will have to detour at McCreary Road. The good news is the new Buffalo Crossing centre on McGillivary is really shaping up. Unsure when it will be ready. Website says the beginning of 2025, but it could be sooner. They are also adding transit service and a bus loop to FortWhyte Alive beginning in August, IIRC.

I will take pics today of the construction. Also, if you happen to be in the area, construction crews are redoing the median of McGiliivary and Kenaston, so traffic is pretty backed up.

Anybody heard anything about 300 St. Mary Ave?

Also, aside from the future development of Portage Place and The Bay, any other exciting news for downtown?

300 st mary was purchased out of bankruptcy and is undergoing development optimization for the new owner.

Apparently there are numerous large and juicy proposals in the works for downtown and Winnipeg. Need patience for them to become public.

^^^ I believe it now goes by "185 Donald" now.

They increased the number of units to 160 from 120 and they are planning to resume construction in fall. I don't think they increased the height, likely just smaller units.

That’s good to hear… Winnipeg CMA is up to 910,000 as of July 1 2023 according to the latest statscan data released today. 34,000 people added in the previous year alone. It would be nice to see some of that growth make an impact downtown.

You should have been paying attention in the '90's. There was nothing to announce all decade.

When I start thinking about what it was like taking the bus downtown in the mid-70s, it's a hard slap in the face realization that I just might not be one of the younger people on here.

I was born in 1997. The Zoo closed before I turned 18 and I wasn't old enough to vote in the 2015 election (winter birthday)
