Apparently this was delayed because some of the financing fell through at the 11th hour. However, the good news is they got new financing and have all permits in hand and will mobilize late July and start full construction the 1st week of August. Still working on some early utility relocations in the meantime.
Nice detective work, no changes made to the design?
Well this is good news, ground breaking soon. They have another picture posted, however I cant seem to post this here.
The developer of the 100% leased X Phoenix a few blocks away at Van Buren Street and 2nd Avenue is planning to break ground in the next few weeks on X Roosevelt, a 19-story tower totaling 400 beds at 625-629 N. 2nd Ave.
Brichta's goal is to open X Roosevelt in 2025.
He's hunting for more land to build another project in a high density area like downtown Phoenix.

Hello folks, just found this thread. Glad there are others interested in the development of the phx skyline! I live in the middle of all the development happening in DT PHX, so will be providing updates as often as I can. Question - anyone know what's going on with the little dirt lot on the northeast corner of 2nd ave and fillmore? Looks like X roosevelt purchased it and are currently using it as parking, but wondering if there's any plans to develop on that parcel.
Yeah those lots have just been leased for staging from time to time for as long as I can remember (2006).
I suspect the old owner got into this "never sell" mentality and by the time he died a few years ago it was too late to assemble the properties. Why people will sit there and pay taxes on rapidly appreciating yet essentially unbuildable/unprofitable land instead of selling them off to be assembled is beyond me. There were two solid opportunities and now they're gone.

I'm curious what kind of development those will see when they options of developable land dwindle down far enough. I'm surprised it isn't used for food trucks or pop up shops in the meantime. The population along that strip has exploded after being pretty much zero just a few years ago.
Can confirm tower crane is up and almost complete. Conversely, the crane for Union Phase 2 is coming down. But there is a 2nd self-erecting crane up over Saiya. So our overall crane count crept up by one.
Not sure when it happened but the crane is gone now... Meanwhile the crane over at X Phoenix is just sat there and watched its little bro crane come up and then down í ¾íµº
