All clear on my end. Street is plowed and melting pretty quickly. Already bare pavement on the street and in my driveway after just a couple of hours.

Cloudy and 0 at 12:15PM. Looking like rain and plus temperatures for most of the week ahead.

Lucky. The plow hasn't found my street yet.

*****

Kilbride is a relatively near-core, hilltop suburb of St. John's. Surprised that hit 90cm so close.

Bay Roberts, Victoria, Brigus, Lethridge, and Ship Harbour are all well outside the city. The rest are in the urban area.

*****

My street still hasn't been plowed, nor just about any residential hill downtown. But we know why now, the size of plows that do our streets are getting stuck still working on main routes in suburban areas. So, could be a while. City has formally closed two roads on the outskirts - the one to Cape Spear, and the one to Cochrane Pond.

*****

VOCM staff is over it. Surprised there's not a psalm in the article lol

EDIT: City is struggling a bit. As time goes on, another road has been added to the closed list, but none removed lol

Bulbs were planted in the fall at my daughter's school in their learning garden. Couldn't tell you what these are, but they've come up already.

My Silver Maple has started budding and we are getting our first sprouts in the front garden as of today. The grass is also starting to green up a fair bit.

10 degrees and rain all day has helped on that front, I think.

We needed more rain like St. John's didn't need more snow. Makes for an ugly walk now but better walk later in the year.

Another day another creek I hadn't walked before. This section beside a hockey arena. Not sure what they use the two trailers for but as you'd expect, it got tagged. How long before someone tags it again, over the the part they painted over?

This mink was eating his meal on the retaining wall and then when he saw me he pulled it down into the water with him and floated away. Don’t worry little buddy. I wasn’t going to take whatever that was away from you.

Yeah lots of rain and endless grey, same temp as yesterday.

I went on another exploration of Toronto/GTA, it's so massive and interesting to see new things. eg Oakwood Village
https://imgur.com/a/tlesKhW
I hadn't been to Upper Earl Bales Park on Bathurst Street in about 15 years .. hilarious watching people snowboard on this sad little hill
https://imgur.com/a/4drOvsA
Then I drove all of Sheppard Avenue East to Rouge National Urban Park - the rain scared everyone away so I had the muddy steep trails to myself
https://imgur.com/a/mVB5mP3
Then I drove up Reesor Road to Stouffville
https://imgur.com/a/anEv2fO
Sadly many historic downtown homes are being replaced by those hideous fake "farmhouse" style with white or black siding. (FFS, I grew up in an authentic 1870s Ontario Gothic farmhouse, so yeah this trend is fake AF.)
Worse, the garbage they're building on Reesor Road in the southend ... pretty depressing to think this blight costs 5X those beautiful colorful homes in SHH's paradise
https://imgur.com/a/NypZJeF
I ended my night at Yummy Market, this wonderful Russian/Ukrainian grocery store on Major MacKenzie
https://imgur.com/a/DHZ25b4
(I made certain to buy only products made in store or Ukraine, eg Vanilla Halva. They even have Ukrainian bread, I'm trying to remember how it's different .. perhaps sweetened with honey?)

7C and cloudy today. Rainy this evening and it's still ongoing. Varies from moderate to downpours. Great for the grass and plants getting a head start. Always to wash away the remaining salt and dirt on sidewalks especially.
I checked and this is the last little bit of snow in the yard. It's north facing and never gets sun in the winter. Snow tends to accumulate there as that is the place where the melting snow from the roof falls. I suspect with the rain tonight, the small patch will be gone tomorrow.

Low of 0C (wind chill of -5) this morning.

The warmspot was Milk River, AB at 14.8C.

Warmest low was Saturna Island, BC at 7.1C

My surgery went well and what luck, I scored a top floor room with a view.
I can't tell you how therapeutic it is to be able to see out and watch the sky
for several days as you're completely immobilized and zonked out on Hydromorphone.

This was my view last weekend.

Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and a bit blustery at times.

Saturday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 10 C, the low was 7 C.

I think I know now what it feels like to be in St. John’s.

Bald eagles seen nesting in Toronto for first time in city’s recorded history
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...t-time-history

I posted a couple months ago about seeing one flying over while in my backyard. Four years ago saw one outside Hamilton and ten years ago a couple outside of Guelph. They continue to get closer and closer and they’ve now arrived in TO. Of course, I’m sure they’ve flown over before but damn, are they going to be here to stay? See hawks (a couple might have been some kind of eagle), falcons and occasional osprey all the time but the king of all eagles is something special.

Cloudy and 0 at 12:30PM.

Special weather statement for 25-50mm of rain from Monday evening through Tuesday. Guess we're trying to see if we can flood the city....

I saw a bald eagle on the side of the 403 outside Brantford a few weeks ago - first time I’ve seen one in Ontario. Huge birds.

I see eagles all the time, there's been a nest down the road the last few years. It's almost a guarantee to see eagles flying along Hwy 3 between Leamington and Blenheim. I've also spotted them along the Thames river west of Chatham and along the St. Clair River.

We see bald eagles here in Windsor and Essex County quite often nowadays, especially compared to years ago when they were very uncommon. They have nests in the city along the Detroit River, as well as Amherstburg, Belle River and Harrow. We probably see them at least 10 times a year lately.

Yeah, really can’t tell just how big they are until you see them up close. They have them at Mountsberg conservation area in Milton in their raptor centre. You see them in their enclosure just a few feet away. Also do a show there.

There’s a guy outside Oshawa that would let you be a falconer. Basically, put the leather thing around your arm and the hawk and owl perch on your arm and you throw food or something and it flies and grabs it and comes back. It was only like $45 ten years ago. The only other one I knew of was in Acton, but that was like a hundred bucks. Oshawa too far and hours not compatible with when I am there, just like the tank museum there where you can ride in one for a decent price. Or an armoured personnel carrier for cheap.

Yay, the Americans are coming! (I saw a bald eagle nesting near Tilsonburg last May.)

Overcast grey skies with a very cold wind and snow flurries in Toronto. No accumulation unfortunately.
