Upgraded cladding but, same old spandrel and irregular sized unitized panels. Must suck to be a Miesian inspired architect today. The complete lack thereof in the design's attention to details is superficial to the housing standards.

The second tower now working on floor 19, if I have my count correct. That should see it top out in April/May next year. I would expect to see occupancy in the first tower in the spring/summer as well.

And it turns out that the King/Cameron corner is getting a similar blue spandrel treatment to the Charles/Madison corner earlier.

The bridge was mostly gone around noon today, on Monday they took down what was left of the M3 bridge with the support columns being removed Wednesday, this morning all that was left was the center span of the MC/DC bridge which should be completely gone by the end of the day tomorrow. They have also built two rooms inside of the DC lobby next to both the Tim Hortons and the DC Library, I have no idea what it is for but it's somehow related to M4 since someone from Gillam was talking with the crews building the rooms. This is now above grade with some of the first floor columns being poured on the south side. The ground floor slab is completed for about a third of the building with underground plumbing/electrical work still occuring along the remainder, they are also still pouring footings on the side closest to the University Ave bridge. Yesterday they set up those first floor columns and today they were pouring some of them. December 17 courtesy of a friend

The first tenants of the Shanley, as the rental building will be known, could be handed their keys in February 2026, said Terrence Tyers, president of Toronto-based Shannondale Developments.

For more than 120 years, it was home to a four-storey building dating from 1898, originally built as a furniture factory and later used by Dominion Electrohome and subsequent companies. The abandoned, derelict building was torn down in 2020, and Shannondale Developments finished cleaning up contamination on the site in 2023.

The Shanley will have 172 units, in a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, and one bedroom plus den. Eighteen of the units will be affordable, Tyers said. There will be 164 parking spaces, mainly underground, and 96 bicycle stalls...

Construction work continues on the Shanley, an eight-storey purpose-built rental apartment building in Kitchener at Shanley and Duke streets.
