As it happens, today was the day. We just got this:

"Wednesday, May 17, 2023

Dear Hotel Partners:

We are reaching out today to share important information regarding the latest plans for the Austin Convention Center with our hospitality partners. The Austin Convention Center is moving forward with plans to expand and redevelop our current site. To that end, we will prepare for closure, demolition and construction beginning in April 2025.
We understand the significant impact our plans create for you and your organization, and we deeply empathize with the challenge this generates.

... Looking forward, we are excited about the product and enhanced level of service our new Austin Convention Center, slated to reopen in early 2029, will provide your operations in the future. With a substantial increase in space as well as state-of the art, modernized, industry leading facilities we’ll be eager to welcome more customers to Austin!"
