It's worth hunting down the south shore plan, which lays out where the city (generally) believes taller buildings can and should go. I don't think there's any real chance of Rainey-style height . . . but we could still get some significant 500 footers on the Statesman site, as MyBrain notes. I think most of it will look like the RiverSouth building.

Wow, this really looks great, it's the first time I've seen it. I would hope that the city tries to push for new developments to include significant mixed/open green space (not just trails like along AMLI South Shore) along the river on both sides, and with big parks that essentially sit either side of 35 (Zilker/Auditorium Shores on the west and Guerrero on the east), I hope that the river between MoPac and 183 becomes as iconic as Central Park over the next 50 years.
