KRQE had a story yesterday about a poll the New Mexico United conducted to gauge support for their efforts to secure public money to build a new stadium in Downtown Albuquerque. The poll of 300 people showed 63 percent support the effort and 23 percent oppose. The story also talked about the city's request of $40 million from the state legislature during this session to help build the stadium. The United's owner says he is also working with the city to try to get a bond on the ballot in November to help finance the stadium construction. He also says there is $5 million raised so far in private money for the stadium effort.

KOB-TV recently reported on the UNM Hospital expansion. The report from Saturday said that construction would begin Monday (yesterday) on the first stage of the project, which is the new 1,400-space parking structure. That portion will cost $95 million. The report says that construction on the actual hospital building will begin in June. That portion of the project will cost $522 million. That means the total cost of the project has now risen to $617 million. The story says that the project will add 96 beds to the hospital.

The cost of the Bernalillo County @ Alvarado Square project has also risen, to a little over $67 million. KRQE reported yesterday that the county commission will decide tonight on $526,000 in extra funding for more furnishings in the building. The county had recently also approved an extra almost $2 million for Covid-19 protection measures for the project. The project is expected to be completed in April.
