You are not going to win any converts by defining "car depednacy" as shit quality of life. Most people in Ottawa want a cheap house with a yard and don't mind driving everywhere. I think they are crazy but it is the strong preference of the vast majority. Even if we equalize development charges they are still going to choose a $500k house in Barrhaven over a $600k stacked townhouse in the Glebe. Even if you reject his argument and say there is a subsidy well there are subsidies for lots of politically powerful groups.
