I was just cycling on this road this morning, appreciating the fresh smooth pavement, thinking they should've paved the shoulders for bike lanes... and had the same thought that the Granite intersection looks unsafe. It doesn't help that the current bike lanes on McLaughlin end right at a blind hill...
