Hut's Hamburgers to close

By Will Anderson – Managing Editor, Austin Business Journal
14 minutes ago

Hut's Hamburgers will close this October after 80 years in business.

Owner Mike Hutchison said in a June 10 announcement that the eatery at 807 W. Sixth St. will shut down Oct. 20. It was founded in 1939 and Mike and Kim Hutchinson bought it in 1981.

“Hut’s has been a major part of our lives and we have loved running the business, but after 38 years, we are ready to move in a different direction. We have appreciated all of our wonderful customers," Mike Hutchinson said in a statement. “We have an excellent relationship with our landlord, the Joseph’s [sic], but it is just time for us to move on.”
