Except it's more perception (by some people) than reality. There was a time when US wine was considered inferior but slowly people realized that it just wasn't true any more. I suspect that, true to form, Canadians that look down upon Canadian wine won't come around till Americans tell them that it's good/give it the US stamp of approval. The Canadian palette is unrefined, after all, so we're impossible of deciding for ourselves.
