Speaking geologically, all of downtown Austin sits in the Texas Coastal Plain. The Texas Hill Country extends no further east than the Balcones Escarpment (Fault Zone) who's eastern extent is about where Barton Creek is (south of the river) and runs just east of Lake Austin up through Mt. Bonnell and into Austin's Northwest Hills (north of the River - before turning further west near MoPac & 183). In essence, north of Lady Bird Lake, the Texas Hill Country extends no further east than MoPac.
However, you are correct. Most rock under the City of Austin (proper) is limestone.
