Who is to blame for real estate prices?

http://theorca.ca/resident-pod/the-blame-game-part-two/

A nice article here discusses what we should be focusing on to increase housing affordability and how we’re focusing on easy targets rather than the right ones. Honestly I laughed when I started seeing people blame illegal Chinese money for real estate prices and it’s funny when he mentions it. Note that Pavlov is a SFU Finance professor who wrote an affidavit used to support the foreign buyer tax in court so he can be seen as unbiased and educated.

Quote:
He criticized the ‘Dirty Money’ report for being “ridiculous” in exaggerating the impact of laundered casino money.

“It’s such a small amount. This (has) nothing to do with the housing crisis.”

He described Mr. Eby’s attempts to sell a link between Metro Vancouver’s housing problems and Chinese criminal activities as a “politically easy” move that “resonates with voters.”
