^ Can't the civic committee that handles downtown development send it back to the architect? I remember that the Hampton Inn (now Humphry Inn) on Main was originally designed with a parking lot in the forecourt, just like you'd see out by the airport. That committee told them to redo it by bringing the building to the lot line and putting the parking in the back. They did, and the end result was much improved.
I agree, that side entrance looks like ass and it's something you'd expect on Pembina south, not in the heart of downtown. If they demand a little parking area then so be it, but at least force them to orient the entrance to the street and the not the parking lot. And to buzz's point, surely the handicapped ramp could be accommodated without having to put the entrance at the side of the building?!
I might just have to put my CONCERNED CITIZEN hat on and e-mail my councillor about this.
