Great article. He's right of course. But I'm not exactly what the solution is. The public doesn't penalize governments for not delivering on their promises. The many storm that formed in Kitchener and London over Deb Matthews admitting the Liberals weren't going to build the promised HSR, was the closest we got to public anger over rail under-investment. And that was quickly mollified by announcing that they were going to proceed with the EA.
Gormick blames governments. I blame the unsophisticated Canadian voter, who 9 times out of 10 doesn't care about infrastructure in general and cares even less about the terrible rail services in this country. It's actually kind of pathetic that VIA can't even get a real commitment for a $4 billion regular speed line. That says a lot about Canada.
