Its splitting hairs, but the 92 was added a few years ago (can't remember when) and then more recently, both routes were renumbered 61 and 62.
As for your question, they certainly continue to use artics during the daytime (likely because it is easier to have a driver use only one bus during a shift). It is possible they use 40' buses during the late evening though (when a new driver starts a shift). Even if they did, it wouldn't really help other routes as they have a surplus of all bus types during the off peak. It is during the peak periods that they have almost all of the buses on the road.
It will be interesting to see once the Confederation line opens, especially after stage 2 as the need for articulated buses on many of these routes will be eliminated, as they are no longer running through the central Ottawa, where they fill up.
